Steve Ditko and Frank McLaughlin - Captain Atom #89, page 3 Original Art (Charlton, 1967). At the height of comics' Silver Age, Steve Ditko was winning praise for his spectacular work on Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. At the same time, Ditko was also creating powerful tales of another hero -- Captain Atom, published by Charlton Comics as part of its Action Hero line! Captain Atom was introduced by Steve Ditko and writer Joe Gill in Space Adventures #33, in March 1960. Ditko later returned to the white-haired nuclear-powered hero from 1965-1967. The story "Thirteen," from Captain Atom #89 introduces an adversary named Thirteen, and his talking cat, both of whom appear to work magic. Plotted by Steve Ditko and scripted by David Kaler, Ditko's highly unique pencil style is finished by inker Frank McLaughlin. This superb page introduced Thirteen to the readers for the first time! The image area measures 12" x 18". There is some edge wear, otherwise the work is in Excellent condition.
