This is a Steuben, Rosaline & Alabaster bowl, shape number 2851.
I was told this was given to a grandmother in June of 1926, by Frederick Carder. I purchased it in central New York. This bowl was given to the lady as a gift. She cherished it for years, and used it all of the time. It was her favorite piece for fruit, or just to float a couple of roses. The translucent Rosaline color is stunning to the eye, yet very soothing. There are several flaws in this bow, but it was loved even more because of its flaws. There are several black spots in the side of the bowl. There is a flaw in the bottom inside of the bowl. There was also two spots on the out side, one on the base and one on the lower side. These spots had a slag material on them and were ground down to make the bowl smooth. There is scratches on the inside of the bowl and on the bottom of the base. You can hold it to the light and see some water staining on the inside of the bowl. If this bowl does not sell it will probably go to my home to be used by me for many years to come.
