Sheffield: Thomas Sansom, 1810. A refined George III sterling silver cream jug by Sheffield silversmith Thomas Sansom. This pitcher features a graceful baluster body with a scalloped spout and a delicately scrolled handle. Raised on a stepped circular foot with rope border, the form is both elegant and practical. The face is engraved with a flowing monogram, likely MWP, rendered in fine script. Fully hallmarked with the maker's mark TS, lion passant for sterling, crown for Sheffield, and the date letter r for 1810. A well-balanced and beautifully executed example of early 19th-century English silverwork. Approx. 5.5"H. Total weight is 100 grams or 3.215 troy ounces.
