Haldeman a resigned officer in the United States Army now a citizen of Texas who visits Richmond for the purpose of getting the appointment of Capt. in the Confederate Army. He is a worthy gentleman and a gallant officer, possessing in an eminent degree the confidence of the people of this portion of Texas, and any assistance you may render him will be duly appreciated by a large circle of friends, and you will be adding another to the many good acts you have already done for the cause of Southern Independence. He is anxious to serve the Confederate cause, and trusting that you may be able to secure for him the desired position.” In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, uniform toning, a tear to left edge, easily repairable on reverse, and moderate show-through from writing on opposite sides. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope as well as information of Haldeman’s military service.
