This is a handmade custom knife by George Stemple of Missoula, Montana. The knife is hand inscribed, "Merry Christmas Bill Rose from George Stemple 1979" and "GS 1979" on the other side. It is believed that George Stemple worked for R.H. Ruana in Bonner, Montana then left and created his own knives in a very similar fashion. This hatchet or tomahawk shows an excellent steel blade with rich Rocky Mountain Elk Antler handle with brass fittings. Good Condition with little to no visible flaws. Measures 13.25"L with a 4 7/8"x2.75" blade.
