Struck for the Columbian World's Fair in 1892 by the Stefano Johnson medallic firm in Milan, Italy. It is generally thought of as the best-engraved of all the medals produced for the Columbian Fair. The medal was designed by Luigi Polliaghi and engraved by Angelo Cappuccio.
