‘Radha Doing Her Nails by the Pool’ is a photograph by Stefanie Schneider and dates from 1999. The present lambda color print was printed in 2004 and mounted on Alu-Dibond. The depiction of the young woman wearing an orange wig is slightly blurred and rendered in faint colors. Stefanie Schneider’s photographic works are based on expired Polaroid films that evoke the impression of faded film-stills. The photographs are mainly shot in California, Schneider’s second home, and clearly refer to the genre of road movies. Films like ‘Red Desert’ and ‘Zabriskie Point’ by Michelangelo Antonioni and ‘The Last Picture Show’ by Peter Bogdanovich are the artist’s favorite sources of inspiration.



The photograph is in good condition with minimal mounting marks along the edges. It is signed, titled and inscribed on a label of the Lumas Gallery on the reverse, ‘Stefanie Schneider/ Radha Doing Her Nails by the Pool /1999/ 2004’ as well as numbered ‘26/150’.The size of the work is 30.7 x 30 cm.



Stefanie Schneider (b. 1968)

Born in Cuxhaven, the photographer Stefanie Schneider studied communication design at the Folkwangschule in Essen, Germany, and today lives in Berlin and Los Angeles. Her photographs can be seen in numerous galleries, and her works are exhibited internationally.
