Stefanie Schneider, Lambda Color Print, Max by the Pool, 1999
The present lambda color print on Alu-Dibond is based on a photograph by Stefanie Schneider, dated 1999 and printed in 2004. It depicts a young woman with bright yellow hair, dressed in summer clothes. She squats by a pool and dives a toy gun into the water. Schneider's photographs are mainly shot in California, the second home of the artist. Especially young women, who often wear wigs, are the protagonists of her works, which are based on expired Polaroid films. They are all characterized by a faded coloring, which are caused by the age of the films and which Schneider uses as a stylistic device. In doing so, the artist succeeds in a unique way to break with the conventions of photography and to give it a new aesthetic quality.

The photograph is in very good condition with minimal traces of use. It is signed, titled and inscribed on a label of the Lumas Gallery on the reverse, ‘Stefanie Schneider/Max by the Pool/1999/ 2004’ as well as numbered ‘8/150’.The size of the work is 30.7 x 30 cm.
