This image, titled ‘Alles wird gut’ (= everything will be alright), was created by the German artist Stefan Kürten in 1992/93. Depicted are different brooms that are lined up by six in three rows. In most of his paintings he takes objects of daily use as a source of inspiration and depicts these in this case freely floating in front of a bright background. The surface structure of the painting, rendered in a fine craquelé effect, is intended by the artist. The artist, who was a pupil of Michael Buthe, lives and works in Düsseldorf.



The oil painting is signed, dated and titled and also inscribed ‘ZUHAUSE’ on verso. The reverse also bears a reciprocal pencil drawing of the front motif. The painting is in good condition with minimal traces of wear. The visible craquelé is intended and has been generated by the artist. The dimensions of the stretcher frame are 61 x 30 cm.



Stefan Kürten (born 1963)

Stefan Kürten studied fine arts at the Academy in Düsseldorf in the class of Michael Buthe and at the Art Institute in San Francisco, where he later also taught for a couple of years. In 2007, the Museum Haus Esters in Krefeld showed a survey of his work that he had created since 2001. The exhibition then also moved to the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. His paintings are part of the collections of several European institutions, and also of the Museum of Modern Art New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Montreal Museum of Art. Five of his works were exhibited in 2012 as part of the exhibition ‘Gesamtkunstwerk, New Art From Germany’ at Saatchi Gallery. His printed body of work was the theme of a single exhibition that took place last year at the Kunstmuseum Mühlheim an der Ruhr.
