For your consideration are two beautiful steer horn powder flasks circa mid to late 1800s. There first of the powder horns shows a lighter color around the thicker part of the horn and turns to a dark brown towards the tip of the horn. The horn features a large wood cap on the base filled with metal tacks and brass tacks holding the wood cap to the horn. On the tip of the wood cap is a metal piece used to secure a shoulder strap. The tip of the horn features a wood cork to hold the powder in the horn. The second powder horn shows a black color with stripes of beige towards the base of the horn. The tip is fitted with a brass powder spout while the base is capped with a brass cover featuring a small loop for attaching a shoulder strap. The powder horns show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of obvious damage is noted. The darker colored powder horn measures 9 3/8" L x 2 3/4" W, while the lighter colored horn measures 9 1/2" L x 2" W. They have a collective weight of 11 ounces.
