State of North Carolina. May 10, 1780 Act of Assembly at Newbern. Three Hundred Spanish Milled Dollars. Fr. NC-196. PCGS About Uncirculated-55 Details. Small Masked Stains. As illustrated.

Description: Aut nunquam tentes aut perfice. Thick paper. Serial No. 301. Signed by H. Vipon and Jno. Cooke. Two-Sided. Printed by James Davis. 88mm by 64mm. Death to Counterfeit. A simply amazing note. The centering is spot-on for the face, though slightly left on the verso. “Listed in the Affleck-Ball Sale as rare; we would have to agree with that viewpoint.
Easily among the finest known examples of this rare thick-paper issue; 1,000 or so notes were printed of the denomination on two paper types, this and the paper styled “thin.” It is a rare occasion when one gets to hold a Three Hundred Dollar Colonial note, and the appearance of an example at auction is also a rare occasion. Destined to be star in the next cabinet it calls home.
