Description: Presented for sale in this lot is a State of Maine, Civil War Testimonial, issued in 1868. This is an original document signed by John Caldwell, Adjutant General and Joshua Chamberlain, Governor. The subject, Edwin French, is believed to be the same Edwin French, Co. F 20th Maine who was wounded at Gettysburg. Maker: American Bank Note Co. New York - Boston is in fine lettering at the bottom. Approx. Age: 1868. Size: 19-1/2 inches wide x 15-1/2 inches tall. Condition: Pretty good for its age, wear, tanning, crumbling expected. Please look closely at the pictures - they are an important part of our description.
