Partly-printed broadside in which Treasurer Lawrence attempts to collect taxes from the Enfield tax collector. “Whereas, Samuel Hall, Jr. who was Constable of the Town of Somers...in the County of Hartford and collector of the State Taxes for said town...in the year 1783, 1784, has neglected to make payment of the April 12, Dec 6, Jan and March Taxes...as the law requires...amounting to the Sum of One Hundred forty five pounds, Sixteen Shilling and three pence with Interest included on payments made. …execution remains to be done Lawrence orders Chandler to be arrested. An interesting piece displaying the difficulties of early tax collection. Fine.
