Rare, fine, early Sioux captured Starr Civil War Carbine serial #15463, .54 caliber, 21" round barrel with a bright very good bore. This carbine is not listed in the Springfield research records therefore among the 15,000 serial range that went to the 9th Pennsyvania cavalry including numbers 15456 and 15473. Metal surfaces of carbine retain a pleasing, generally smooth gray brown patina with some faded original color case-hardened finish evident in some areas. Indian Scout took the weapon west, decorated with brass tacks showing Western Frontier use after the Civil War. . A neat rare Starr carbine, with Indian use and artistic tack work of the period.
