Starr 1826 Contract Cutlass, Model 1841 Navy Cutlass, and Fencing Cutlass
1) Nathan Starr 1826 Navy Cutlass with 25 1/4 curved single edged blade with narrow fuller. The obverse ricasso is stamped "US/N. Starr". The cutlass has a wide, inn guard with down-turned edges and quillion, is on flat disk pommel and maple, ribbed, cylinder grip with iron ferrules at either end. 2) Ames Model 1841 Navy Cutlass with 21-inch, straight double edged blade. The cast brass grip and pommel have the same scales and eagle and shield decorations as the M1833 Fort Activity Sword. The wide brass guard has thickened edges and down-turned quillion. 3) Horstman & Sons fencing cutlass with 21-inch, blunt tip blade, riveted iron, cup-shaped counter guard and five-branch riveted guard with wooden grip.

The Starr Cutlass is in good condition. The blade and guard have an untouched dark patina. The blade markings are sharp. The grip is in very good condition. The M1841 Cutlass is in good condition. The blade is dark with scattered pitting and no visible markings. The hilt has been polished and is in good overall condition. The Horstman Fencing Cutlass is in good overall condition. The balde markings are sharp. The edges of the blade have the expected dents. The gurad has a dark patina with scattered pitting.
