Original exploding seed pods called a "Choking Hazard" used in the Leslye Headland created science fiction television series 'The Acolyte' (2024), set at the end of the High Republic era before the events of the main Star Wars films, and follows a Jedi investigation into a series of crimes.
Starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
In the Star Wars series "The Acolyte", the exploding seed pod is not a weapon, but rather a naturally occurring phenomenon associated with the planet Brendok.
More specifically, the pods are described as large seed containers that grow on massive trees on Brendok, and the Lurmen natives on Maridun used them for their homes. The seeds also produce an oil with healing properties, which was notably used to treat Anakin Skywalker after he was injured in battle.
