(LucasFilm, 1980) An original Directors Guild of America earnings statement dated 3/31/1979 and signed by George W. Lucas Jr. This is an extremely rare vintage document with full name signature of legendary "Star Wars" creator George Lucas. Like other celebrities, George Lucas drastically changed the way he signed over the years to accommodate the large number of requests for autographs, reducing it to a simple "GL". Original vintage signatures such as this have become a holy grail for collectors. The interesting thing about this document is that it was filed during production of "The Empire Strikes Back", the film that caused Lucas to quit the Directors Guild of America. He resigned from the guild because the guild fined him for placing Irvin Kershner's directing credit at the end of The Empire Strikes Back (even though Kershner himself did not object). Document measures 8.5" x 7" and remains in very good condition.
