(Lucasfilm, 1977) This is a section of the Death Star surface used in the first film, Star Wars - A New Hope. There were several different sized "tiles" created from as small as 3" square up to 24" square. This piece measures about 12" square and approximately 2" tall. This particular piece has various depths, adding to its character. The tiles were painted differently and placed in multiple places to represent the surface of the Death Star. It is made of a very dense, lightweight foam type material, which shows it's age with yellowing on the bottom and some sides. This particular piece has small reflective squares in various places in order to look like windows.
