Stanley Pitt - Silver Starr in the Flameworld Page (undated). Telepathic messages and exotic fantasy settings are the highlights of this sensational Stanley Pitt page, which stars many of the major characters. Silver was an Australian soldier, returned from war, who joined an expedition to explore the Earth's core. Onro was a scientist on the mission; he played a role similar to that of Dr. Zharkoff in the Flash Gordon strips. Another comrade was Dyson, whose features were modeled after those of Errol Flynn. Tarka, a villain, battles Dyson in the first panel, and Pristine, Queen of the Flameworld cameos in panels two and three. Australian artist Stanley Pitt was greatly inspired by Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon. From 1946-1948, Silver Starr in the Flameworld, ran in the Sydney Sunday Sun. Later, the tales were reprinted as comic books by Young's Merchandising, in the early 1950s, and Cleveland Press in 1958. Stanley Pitt is celebrated as a leading illustrator of science-fiction, as well as one of the finest Australian comic artists in the classic tradition. The image area of this page measures 12" x 17.5". The original art panels were cut from a Sunday comic strip page and mounted onto a new support board, where they were laid out as a comic book page, with the art extended to fill the panels; otherwise the art is in Very Good condition. Stanley Pitt signed and dated the art in the lower right corner. Don't miss out on this scarce Stanley Pitt spectacular, showcasing the fantasy world of Silver Starr!
