Stanley Mouse - Hot Rod Merchandise Ad Original Art (1963).
Stanley Mouse - Hot Rod Merchandise Ad Original Art (1963). Stanley Mouse began his career working the gearhead circuit. This ad almost certainly appeared in the hot rod magazines of the 1960s, in titles such as CARtoons, Hot Rod Cartoons, Drag CarTOONS, and so on. Mouse recounted some of his early history on his website, "It was about 1960. I was at a hot rod show in Pittsburgh PA. The show had a lot of tasty hot rods in it -- not too glittery. It was the usual set-up for me. A message came saying that Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth, the great shirt painter from Los Angles, wanted to talk to me -- Roth took my catalog back to LA and showed it to his staff. They took my hot rod character 'Freddie Flypogger,' added rodent type ears, nose, and tail and called it, 'Rat Fink.' In one fell swoop, they took my character and stole my identity. The Rat Fink character went on to bigger fame and fortune and I got ready for the next phase of my art; the great poster revolution." This art is drawn in pencil and pen on Craftint duo-tone art paper, which was the media of choice for the black and white car magazines. The image area measures 9" x 19.75" and the art is in Excellent condition. Here's a chance to own an original, by an original -- Stanley Mouse.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
