Stan Bentall Santa Fe Large Horse Bolo Sterling
This is an original, circa 1987, Stan Bentall sterling silver large bolo tie with horse and feather pattern with fantastic Southwestern art appeal. Stan Bentall is an artist from Santa Fe, New Mexico, best known for his bronze artwork. He also created several large three-dimensional sterling silver and 14k gold jewelry pieces. Bentall created his large jewelry with the lost wax method or the French term Cire Perdue. His large bolo necklaces are hard-to-find and have a classic Southwestern design focusing on animal effigies and feathers. This example shows a shield-like round body with large equine horse head raised from the body with flowing hair, all in dimensional solid sterling silver with a set of three hand made sterling silver hanging feathers. The bolo is strung on a classic braided black leather bolo necklace strand with the tip ends being large solid sterling silver feathers. The back of the bolo is signed / stamped “(Copyright) 1987 BENTALL SS” which stands for Sterling Silver. This is a handmade piece of jewelry with nice vintage age, well kept, signed and of a large, heavy size. Bolo measures 21”L from the back of the neck to the bottom of the tips (not doubled). The bolo itself with the drop three-feathers is 6 1/8"L x 3.75”W x 1.25”D approximately. Total weight of 237.5g.*
