First stamp catalog issued in the United States. Lot consists of two individual pieces: 1) Booklet titled The Stamp Collector's Manual by A.C. Kline published by A.C. Kline, 824 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, 1862. 48 page booklet in paper wraps lists stamps issued by various world countries. Booklet pages have been cut at right margin resulting in a tab system. Last page of text and back cover are missing corner fragment with text involvement. Booklet measures 7 x 4.5 and exhibits some weakness in spine, ex-owner's ink signature and address on front cover, and various pencil notations to interior. 2) Booklet titled Descriptive Price Catalogue of American and Foreign Postage Stamps on Sale at Kline's Emporium. 16 page catalog (including covers) printed on single, large sheet with pages not cut. Booklet printed by J.H. Johnson, Philadelphia, (n.d.) c. 1865. Booklets housed in a custom clamshell case.
