Located 8 miles south of Clear Lake, Adams Springs was named for the man who discovered the springs in 1869. Charles Adams later sold them to the Whitton Brothers in 1871, and soon after constriction for a town in the area started. The town became known for its refreshing springs, which claimed to alleviate certain ailments and diseases. Visitors seeking use for the springs could take the several stage lines that passed through the area. The photograph has several people posed in front of or around a stagecoach. Although it is difficult to make out, the title of the company appears to be “Olympia Calistoga and Clear Lake Stage Line. The Photograph measures 8.5” x 6.5” and 10.60” x8.40” on matte. There is some wear on the photo and matte including fading and creases. -61559
