Fairings are brightly colored, small porcelain objects that were made in molds in Germany and Bohemia and painted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Originally sold at fairs as souvenir pieces. This fairing has the Staffordshire Crest on the front with the words: "Domine Dirige nos"' on a yellow banner, under the Crest, and in black letters under the Crest: City Of London. It is a 3-footed, two handled, Pot shape, fairing. Bottom stamp in green: Crown with a shield and "GEMMA" inside of the shield. Measurements are: 2 inches high and 1 3/4 inches wide at top of lip. Excellent Condition.
