<td width="100%">
9.5" medium dark blue transferware print plate. Scene: "Piping Shepherd"- potter unknown but has been suggested Spode. This is a beautiful scene of a shepherd playing his pipe amongst the sheep. The attractive border leaves and flowers circles the center scene. The rounded back with no foot rims indicates an early age, CA: 1820-30. (See: DICITIONARY OF BLUE AND WHITE PRINTED POTTERY BY COYSH AND HENRYWOOD).
Two problems: First there is a chip on the back at the rim but does not show from the front.
Second there is a glaze scrape on the outer rim down to the pottery.
