Blade length: 32 1/2". Overall length: 39 1/2". Blade is etched throughout 2/3 of its length with various military & patriotic motifs. Blade is marked with "B" in the center of an impressed shield. Gilded brass hilt with eagle on stationary kidney shaped guard & foliated motif on the folding guard. The reverse of the folding guard is stamped with 3 stars over the letters "EL" in an oval, possibly of French mfg. Oval escutcheon in the center of the guard with the letters "US". Pommel has a perched eagle with displayed wings on either side. Grip is copper wire wrapped silvered brass. Scabbard is gilded brass mounted nickel plated steel. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt is undamaged & retains 85% of gilding. Silver plated grip has approx. 60% of the finish remaining. Scabbard mounts have approx. 75% original finish remaining. Drag is quite worn on the bottom. Nickel plating is approx. 85%.
