St. Louis American League Baseball Club (Missouri)A certificate for 50 shares issued to P.D.C. Ball.
St. Louis American League Baseball Club (Missouri)A certificate for 50 shares issued to P.D.C. Ball and signed by him as club President and again of the verso. There is a vignette of a globe with an American League banner at top center. Following the 1901 season the Milwaukee Brewers, charter members of the American League, moved to St. Louis and changed their name to the Browns. After a number of successful years at the gate, team owner Robert Hedges sold the team to Phillip Ball. Ball had previously been involved in the Federal League and its problems and as a result of his settlement with Major League Baseball, his purchase of the Browns was approved. The Browns went on to win but a single pennant, finishing last 14 times and seventh 14 times. In 1953 the team moved to Baltimore. This is a scarce early major league certificate enhanced by the fact that it was issued to the club President. Uncancelled. Extremely Fine, with a hint of browning in the left margin. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
