Beautiful antique square porcelain jardiniere or fern vase. This
piece has hand painted birds of the four seasons. Each
represents one bird or season.
The decoration
features four feathered friends: woodpeckers, swans, a warbler
on a holly branch and a blue jay on a snowy pine bough (not
shown in photos).

The backstamp is an importers mark used by four different
companies between 1890 and the end of Austrian exports
during WWI. The blank was almost certainly made by Thun in
Klasterec, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). There is no
decorators mark.

Measures 5 inches on each side, 4-1/4 tall

Very good condition. No chips, cracks, dings or other
damage. Some gold wear.

Circa late 1800s to early 1900s

Please see our inventory for more Austrian, Bohemian and
Czechoslokavian porcelains, as well as fine antiques of all kinds.

Appreciation to Ginni Snodgrass for information on the
backstamp.
