Springfield model 1888 US-issue trapdoor rifle with ramrod bayonet, .45-70 caliber, serial #524716. Refer Flayderman 9A-387. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing a strong 75-85% original blue, just starting to tone and age slightly, with some light spotting and erosion just starting on forward of barrel. The lock shows sharp markings and most of the original blue. The breech and tan show 50-70% toning case hardening. The metal shows a coating of dried oil and grease. The stock shows a sharp “SVW 1891” cartouche on the left side which is 100% visible and crisp. The stock shows a few gouges and minor losses on the forend, some storage type marks and scratches. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the original bayonet and small parts are retained. The bore is excellent. From the Bernard Braverman collection. Est: $800 - $1,600
