Springfield model 1884, .45-70 caliber US military-issue rifle in near-fine condition, serial #433510. The barrel shows 85-95% original blue, some drifting at the muzzle and edges, and just beginning erosion and normal age. The lock shows 75% original blue, the breech block shows 80-90% case hardening. The stocks show an 1888 cartouche, some light cleaning with steel wool but no sanding. The stock shows a ā€œPā€ proof behind triggerguard. The cleaning rod channel shows just a couple bumps and no losses, and original cleaning rod is retained. The action is tight, the bores near excellent. The rifle would improve with light cleaning and shows some dried oil and grease. From the Bernard Braverman collection. Est: $700 - $1,400
