Springfield model 1873 trapdoor carbine in late Custer range, .45-70 Caliber, #37604. The carbine shows early features other than buttstock which was changed to later type with trap and rods in butt. The metal surfaces show 20-40% original blue mixed with a patina finish. The stock is good with some dings, mars, gouges, and small losses, and no evidence of inspector's marks. All correct carbine features and parts. Good action, good markings, very good bore. Carbine shows 73lockplate, arched breech block, early rear sight, split band, pinch trigger guard. A desirable Custer range carbine that was returned to the arsenal for repair and may have made it to the West in time for the battle of Little Bighorn.Est: $4,000 - $8,000
