Springfield model 1863 .58 caliber rifled musket. The rifle shows good clear markings on the lock and bolster, 1863 date on both rear of lock and breech of barrel. The metal surfaces are in good condition showing alight patina, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting just starting, generally crisp edges. Stock shows a light refinish long ago and is in good condition with some dings, mars, scratches, and small losses around thetang and edges. A original to the period ramrod is included. The bore is good to very good. A well-marked leather sling shows J. C. Toth inspections. Dr. Sterling Fenn collection. Est: $800 - $1,600
