Springfield made on Rolling Block patent, .50-70 caliber single shot rifle, 36" round barrel, arsenal bright and case hardened. Cartouched wood stocks, original cleaning rod included, well marked on the right side of frame with Springfield Eagle, US, and 1872. Also "Model 1871" on left. The barrel shows a light beginning patina and no polishing. The frame shows 20-30% toning case hardening. The stock is very good and with one small hole drilled two inches in front of rearband for collection mounting. A few small losses along ramrod channel. A few handling marks but at least very good. The left side of the wrist shows "ESA" inspector's proofs. The original sights are retained, the bore is near excellent and the ri shows little use. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
