Springfield first-model carbine, with Custer Battlefield association, serial #41381. Returned to arsenal and stock upgraded with 1882 cartouche. Buttplate punch-dot engraved “HL”. The gun remains in good to very good condition showing sharp lock-markings, 30-40% original blue, some minor erosion, pinprick pitting, and traces of case hardening on the breech. The stock is good, and shows a few dings and mars, and an arsenal type marking “2T” on top of comb and “P” inspection on top of triggerguard. The carbine shows first-model features, other than the upgraded stock and there is a large chip by the buttplate, otherwise stock is very good plus. The action is good, the bore is good. A rare opportunity to obtain a likely Custer-associated carbine that likely saw use on or near the Little Big Horn. Est: $8000 - $16,000
