Springfield Type II Model 1795 Flintlock Musket, .69 cal., 44-3/4'' three-banded barrel, lock marked ''1807 US/Federal Eagle/Springfield''; bright burnished finish, walnut stock, with ''P'' and ''V'' near breech. This is the first standardized and official model of musket made for the U.S. government and the first type made by a U.S. Arsenal. Also known as the ''1795/1808'' model, with total quantity produced approx. 10,000. Condition is excellent as lightly burnished and cleaned. Stock shows nicks, scuffs, and oil darkening near metal surfaces, with some personalized markings that appear period to left side of buttstock. Small cracks emanating from center of retaining plate, and buttplate fits fractionally large. Est.: $3,000-$4,000. (Antique)
