Springfield Type-3 Officer’s model, .45-70 caliber, trapdoor rifle, with removable pistol grip, tang sight, and all correct original features. The gun remains in fine to near excellent original condition, with 90-95% original blue, some just slight thinning and toning on the barrel, and just beginning natural age. The lock, hammer, breech block, tang, and trigger guard, show 80-90% original case hardening, with very strong colors just starting to tone. The stock is also near fine with just a couple of minor storage type dings, mars, one or two scratches. Very sharp checkering on the stock and pistol grip. The left side of the stock shows “SVW” and “1885” dated cartouche, which is sharp and crisp and 100% visible. The buttplate shows 80-90% original blue, just thinning at the top. The sights are completely original including tang and beech front which is gold plated. The interior shows very little to almost no use, the bore is near mint. The correct Type-3 wiping rod is also retained, which is not plated. A stellar example of an always desirable Officer’s model. Est.:$30,000-$50,000
