A Springfield, Model 'Unknown', .58 caliber musket showing period alterations and conversion to nipple in barrel, along with a hammer change. It features a stock reduced to half, a 39" barrel, smooth curved trigger, ram rod, smooth steel buttplate, and smooth straight grip stock. This rifle is for parts or repair because it is missing a number of parts. There is rust and patina throughout, the sights are incomplete, and the hammer and fire control group is missing. The bore is hard to inspect, but there appears to be visible rifling. The stock looks serviceable, and has light handling marks with 'U.S.' and other markings carved into the left side of the stock. There are Springfield parts on this rifle.
Condition is NRA Poor.
