Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle, #416396, .45-70 cal., 32'' barrel, blue finish, case hardened breechblock, smooth two-band walnut stock, with slightly later military sling. Breechblock dated 1884; cartouche appears to be 1888. Condition is very good retaining approx. 90% lightly thinning and toning blue to barrel and frame. Breechblock shows thinning and minor brown/gray discoloration. Hammer, lockplate, triggerguard and buttstock retain approx. 95% blue. Stock with additional coat of linseed oil. Action is crisp, bore is fine and should clean to mirror bright. Missing ramrod.
