Serial # 370155 This is a standard Model 1884 Springfield U.S. Trapdoor rifle chambered for the .45-70 govt cartridge. Standard features include 32-5/8" barrel, two barrel bands, walnut stock, dated 1884 case color block, single shot. Rifle is all proper with military inspector marks. The cartouche on left side of wrist is visible but not readable. All metal surfaces are a smooth blue-brown patina with sharp factory markings. Excellent walnut stocks with no cracks or chips, just the usual bumps and bruises associated with war-time use. Strong bore. Perfect action. It is accompanied by a Springfield Reserch Service that state this rifle was issued to Company H, 1st U.S., U.S. Volunteer Infantry date 1898 Spanish-American War. Further investigation into the exploits of this company during this conflict can shed some valuable information.
