Springfield Model 1863 type 2 rifled musket in fine to near excellent original condition. This .58 caliber musket shows sharp US and Springfield marking with crisp Eagle on center of lock and bolster. The barrel showsoriginal bright finish just starting to tone and age slightly. The lock and hammer show 30% to 50% case hardening also beginning to age with no cleaning whatsoever. The stock is crisp with no losses along ramrod channeland the edges of the stock are also well defined. The bore is bright and near excellent. The nipple shows no evidence of firing and the rear sight shows considerable original finish. The stock was nevercartouched and probably not issued. A buff leather sling is included and there is some slight staining and beginning pitting on the trigger guard and the only inspection mark is a P at the center of the trigger and barrelbands are marked U.
