Springfield Model 1863 .58 caliber rifled musket, reduced to 32-1/2”, now 48-5/8” overall. Stock shortened to 43-3/4”, cut back 4-7/8” from muzzle. The metal surfaces show a grey to brown patina finish with light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, some slightly heavier pitting at the breech and towards the muzzle on the top flat. The markings on the lock are good and legible. The stock is fair to good and shows some normal wear, use, minor imperfections. The front sight shows a replaced finer blade during period of use and the sling swivels have been replaced with metal loops that are well made for a rope-type sling. A earlier ramrod has been altered to use with this musket. The action is good, the bore is very good and shows strong rifling. Est: $350 - $700
