Springfield Model 1855 pistol carbine with original shoulder stock, .58 caliber, 12” round barrel remaining in good to very good original condition. The metal surfaces show a light gray patina finish with some minorscattered pitting and erosion. The Springfield Eagle on primer door is fully visible and fairly crisp, the lock markings are very good and the rear of the lock shows the date of 1856. The tang area shows 1855and the left side of the breech shows a clear VP and Eagle proof. The wood is good to very good with a couple of small losses, one large chip from left side of stock near band and no visible cartouche. The stock is marked US on the butt plate and is serial numbered 3 which is an assembly or batch number. The stock shows some dings and mars and is at least very good. The stock matches the condition of the pistol well. The ramrod andthe small parts are all original. The rear sight is original. The pistol cocks and operates well. A strong 7+ on 1 to 10 scale.
