Springfield Model 1855 pistol carbine, .58 cal., 12" barrel with Maynard tape-primer device and detachable shoulder stock, refer Fladerman 6A-052. The pistol remains in good to very good original condition showing agray patina with traces of its original arsenal bright, good Springfield's 1856 and most eagle on primer door cover, sharp proofs at breech, and 1855 date on tang. Original sights and small parts, wood good to verygood with a couple of minor dings, mars and scratches and full cartouche that is just slightly light. The original detachable shoulder stock is numbered 11 and the back of the butt is numbered 8 (these seldom matchand are assembly numbers). The stock is very good+ with just a few scratches and mars. A better than average Springfield pistol carbine which are one of the few pistols made at the Springfield Arsenal and were issuedto U.S. Dragoons in the west before the Civil War. Est.: $3,500-$7,000
