Springfield Model 1842 percussion musket, dated 1844 on barrel and lock plate, .69 cal., 42” round barrel, three barrel bands, iron mounts, bright finish, wood stock, iron trumpet head shaped ramrod. This gun is inoverall near excellent condition showing a light patina on even original bright finish, sharp markings including the eagle on the lock plate; crisp inspector marks at breech of barrel, “U.S.” marking on top of buttplate; very good bore, crisp action, excellent wood stock; one of the nicest examples of this model we have seen in some time. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
