US military semi-automatic gas operated rifle chambered for .30-06 Springfield, manufactured circa 1955 (barrel date). The workhorse rifle of the US military in WWII and beyond. Rifle features a parkerized finish, 24" barrel, protected fully adjustable aperture rear sight, protected blade front sight, bayonet lug, fixed magazine designed for en-bloc clips, trigger guard mounted manual blade safety, smooth curved trigger, and stamped style trigger guard. Barrel is marked "SA F6535448 11 55 A224A," and the bolt is marked "6528287-SA" with "Y01" underneath. "SA" marked trigger housing, and fire control components. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock, smooth forend and handguard, sling swivel on stock ferrule, stacking swivel, sling swivel on shoulder stock, 'P' cartouche at pistol grip, DOD acceptance stamp on the left side of the stock, and checkered metal buttplate with trap door storage compartment. The original parkerized finish retained is approximately 97% with light scattered scratches, and minor edge wear. Metal displays no deformation, but there was some observed rust on the buttplate. Bore is bright with strong rifling. The wood furniture is very good to excellent condition with minor scratches and dings. The action is smooth and crisp. This rifle would be near excellent if it were not for the observed rust.
Condition is NRA Good
