Springfield Armory alteration of Spencer Carbine to infantry rifle, circa 1871. 32-1/2” .50 caliber barrel, 3-groove rifling, Stabler cut-off, forend fastened by two bands, blue and case hardened finish, woodstocks, serial #21956 on barrel and frame. The rifle remains in fine to near excellent arsenal condition showing 50-60% original blue drifting to brown. Right side shows 80-90% bright and fiery arsenal casehardening with vivid rainbow colors, left side has drifted to 50%. Stocks are fine to near excellent. The buttplate shows 90-95% bright case hardening. There are a few scratches on the barrel. Markings are sharp,edges are crisp. The Spencer magazine tube shows almost no use. The action is good, bore is excellent. Rifle shows almost no use. The stocks appear to have never been cartouched. With correct cleaning rod. Refer Flayderman9B-097. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
