Springfield Armory U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle, #271534 .45-70 cal., 32" barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, walnut stock, standard blade front sight, and M1879 adjustable rear sight. Receiver has the serial number and the breechblock is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873". Lockplate is marked "(Eagle)" next to "U.S./SPRINGFIELD". Barrel is marked "V/P/(Eagle)/P" on the left, with a "D" on top. The sight has un-slotted screws and the rifle is correct except for the 1868 ramrod. Overall condition is good, finish has gone to patina, except for the case colors on the bottom of the breechblock. Stock is marked boxed "SWP/1884" (Samuel W.
