Springfield Armory Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This Model 1911 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by the Springfield Armory in 1914. The pistol has the distinctive, lusterless, blue-black finish found on Springfield M1911 pistols and is fitted with checkered walnut stock with large diamonds surrounding the screw escutcheons. The pistol is fitted with a Springfield Armory two-tone magazine with lanyard loop floor plate. The pistol has the correct long hammer with rounded, knurled, spur and front sight that is an integral part of the slide. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Springfield Armory eagle and shield motif behind the ejection port and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" in a single line in front of it. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped: "PATENTED APR. 20, 1897/SEPT.9, 1902.DEC.19,1905.FEB.14, 1911/COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO. in a three line block followed by "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." in two lines ahead of the grip serrations and the Ordnance "Shell and Flame' insignia behind the serrations. The serial number, "No 104418" is located on the right side of the frame behind the slide stop hole. A small 'Shell and Flame' insignia is stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. The barrel is stamped with the Springfield heat lot "REP1" on the lower left side of the chamber and "S" and "P" on the left side of the lug. The markings indicate that the barrel is a Springfield Armory WWII replacement.
