Springfield .50-70 Allin conversion of Civil War musket, 36-5-8" barrel, 3-band rifle in good to very good overall condition. The barrel and action show a patina finish drifting to brown with some spotting and erosion. Traces of case hardening onwell-marked lock. The stock is good to very good with some small losses along cleaning rod channel, some dings, mars, and outline of cartouche on left side of stock behind lockplate screw. Generally good overall with cleaning rod. Boreslightly rough. These Allin conversions were the first cartridge arms to head to the west and many were used in the Buffalo hunts and Indian fights on the western frontier. Est: $900 - $1,800
