Between Wars bolt action US Military rifle manufactured circa 1934. (Serial Number) S.A. barrel dated 4-36. Production was suspended in 1936 with the introduction of the M1 Garand. The 1903 was the standard U.S. service rifle, 1903-1936 making this barrel somewhat rare. Features 24" barrel, blade front sight with clip-on protector, ladder type rear sight, manual safety, sling swivels, stacking swivel. Bore is very good condition/bright. Blued finish with parkerized bottom metal, receiver was also correctly modified with the "1936 Hatcher" gas escape hole in the left side and the right side. The 'S' stock with grasping grooves has the "SA " over S.P.G. cartouche on the left wrist. Stanley P. Gibbs started to work at Springfield Armory in 1916, where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 1951. His initials show up on SA new production as well as rebuilt rifles when he was advanced to inspector in the 1936 time frame. "P" proof on the underside of wrist, hinged checkered steel buttplate. Blue is about 85% with edge/handling wear, minor scuffs/scratches, wood is overall very good with the usual minor scratches/dings, action is smooth and the bore is very good/bright.
